The final Friday of every month is a big day in the Pennine Mencap calendar. We descend on a local community centre and transform it into a themed party. We love to decorate and transport our service users to a magical disco dream. Get your dancing shoes ready to boogie to some live entertainers. A tasty dinner is served to us to fuel that party feeling. Our themes are vast, ranging from Halloween specials to retro throwbacks.

 

We encourage Service users from the wider area, who can’t regularly attend in Oldham, to come on down to Friday Night Club and enjoy a few hours of socialisation with their peers. FNC is regularly a roaring success at Pennine Mencap and we love seeing our Service Users interact and socialise in a safe and healthy environment.

 

Encouraging our users to congregate and meet in a social environment is another instance of building key skills. Often Service Users are keen to help set up, or take attendance registers; entrusting them with key aspects of our service helps users to grow general skills that are appropriate for the workplace, but also builds their confidence.
