SERVICES

Supported Living & Respite

Pennine Mencap Supported Housing creates personalised independent living options for our service users, whether they identify as having a learning disability, autism or other complex/multiple needs.

This service is small but bespoke, empowering individuals to live in a community setting with their peers while receiving the individually tailored support they need to live a fulfilling life.

The Pennine Mencap Supported Housing mission began in response to years of seeing our service users contend with the challenges of obtaining independent homes.

Quality accommodation with appropriate support can be hard to access. This is especially true if you are not known to adult services, or don’t have a named social worker. Even with help from the local authority, it can be difficult to find supported living services in preferred areas where family and friendship networks already exist.

To help address this problem, we felt there was only one solution: to set up our own service. Pennine Mencap Supported Housing was first established in 2021 and has now secured and refurbished a number of properties in Tameside and Oldham.

Our goal is offer both individual and shared accommodation to meet a range of diverse individual needs. We are committed to creating safe, supportive and empowering environments which embody Pennine Mencap’s values, enabling individuals with disabilities to live their lives to the fullest.

Interested? As spaces in our current properties are all allocated, we have a waiting list. We are always glad to accept enquiries from anyone with a disability who is seeking supported accommodation.

We are also very happy to accept enquiries from family members, carers or social workers of disabled individuals in need of supported living homes in Greater Manchester.

Please email enquiries@penninemencap.org, or call us on 0161 627 1025 if you would like to express an interest.

Respite Services

As well as offering permanent homes for disabled adults through our Pennine Mencap Supported Housing service, we are pleased to now offer accommodation for short-term stays.

We have a specific local property reserved for overnight respite, with support packages available to ensure each short break is welcoming, safe and feels like a home away from home.

Where appropriate, we can also make the property available to provide emergency accommodation for individuals with learning disabilities, autism and other complex/multiple needs.

Our short break accommodation service is available for bookings of 1 night or more, and is available subject to professional referrals. We accept referrals from social workers, assessment officers, discharge offers and short breaks teams.

Our respite property is also available to care providers seeking a venue for local short break stays with service users. To make an enquiry or referral, please call or email us.
